You're going to need ETH (Ethereum)

If you don't already own any ETH, you'll need to buy some. For US residents, we recommend Coinbase.com or Crypto.com.

We recommend buying at least $100 worth of ETH, as you'll also need to cover gas fees (more on that later).

  • At this stage you should have at least $100 of ETH in your Coinbase or Crypto.com account.

Installing MetaMask as your digital wallet

If you don't already own a digital wallet, we recommend MetaMask. It's available as a Chrome extension on desktop, and as an Android or iOS app for mobile phones.

After installing MetaMask, set up a new account by following the prompts within the extension or app.

  • At this stage you should have MetaMask installed in your Chrome browser as an extension or as a mobile app on your phone.

Transfer your ETH to MetaMask

Now we'll transfer the ETH you bought in step 1 to your new MetaMask wallet. You will see an option with Coinbase or Crypto.com to send/receive. Choose the send option and in the "to" field, enter your MetaMask Address.

All MetaMask wallet addresses start with 0x - copy your MetaMask wallet address from within MetaMask and send your ETH to your wallet address.

  • At this stage you should have the ETH you bought from Coinbase or Crypto.com in your MetaMask wallet.

Connect your MetaMask wallet to Polygon

Head to wallet.polygon.technology/wallet and login with your Metamask wallet. Follow the prompts and allow Polygon to view your accounts and addresses.

  • At this stage your wallet should be connected to Polygon and you'll see the MetaMask icon and your address in the top right of the website.

Add the Polygon Network to your MetaMask wallet

Head to https://polygonscan.com/ and at the very bottom right of the website you'll see a button to "Add Polygon Network". Clicking this will open up your MetaMask wallet, follow the prompts to add the Polygon Network to your wallet.

  • At this stage your MetaMask wallet should show "Polygon Mainnet" at the top in the network selector.

Bridge your ETH to the Polygon Chain

Head to https://wallet.polygon.technology/bridge and enter your ETH in the "from" section, then click "Transfer" to bridge it to the Polygon Chain.

  • At this stage your ETH should now have transferred from your MetaMask wallet to the Polygon Chain. When you visit this link https://wallet.polygon.technology/wallet you should see the ETH in your list of "Balances on Polygon mainnet".

Swap your ETH for MATIC

Head to https://wallet.polygon.technology/token-swap and make sure ETH is the first and MATIC is the second. Click "MAX" to select your max amount of ETH, then approve the swap to turn your ETH into MATIC.

Let's buy some $IBC 🏝🚀

Head to QuickSwap and accept the prompt. Connect your MetaMask wallet on the top right of the site where it says "Connect Wallet". If this says "Switch to MATIC", open your MetaMask wallet and make sure you have the Polygon Mainnet as the selected network.

Next you'll need to adjust the slippage on QuickSwap. Click the gear icon on the top right of QuickSwap. Adjust the Slippage Tolerance to 10% in the custom field on the right.

Next you'll need to adjust the slippage on QuickSwap. Click the gear icon on the top right of QuickSwap. Adjust the Slippage Tolerance to 10% in the custom field on the right.

By default IBC should be the top token and MATIC should be the bottom token. We need to switch these so click IBC and select MATIC. Now you should see MATIC on the top and IBC on the bottom.

<<<<<<< HEAD Enter the amount of MATIC that you want to swap for IBC. Click the blue "Swap" button to make the swap. That's it!
